An Introduction to Our Practice
Dr. Stephen Baker is an eye surgeon who has also completed two subspecialty fellowships in oculoplastic surgery (plastic surgery focused on the delicate tissues surrounding the eye and adjacent facial regions). He is the only oculoplastic surgeon on Vancouver Island, and is a member of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), which has fewer than 500 members accepted worldwide.
Dr. Baker has devoted his career to excellence in the practice of surgery, both cosmetic and functional, around the eye, providing patients with the practical benefits of better vision combined with the aesthetic benefits of a more youthful appearance. Preserving the natural movement and function of the eyelid and surrounding muscles and tissues through the most advanced techniques, Dr. Baker avoids the problems of dry eyes, eyelid malpositions, and tearing that can follow cosmetic eyelid surgery.
Botox along with an array of facial filler can also be used to create a natural, relaxed non-surgical look.
Dr. Baker works with his wife Dionne Laslo-Baker who was ranked in the top 5% of Ph.D. candidates when she was awarded the prestigious Canadian Institute of Health Research Doctoral Research Award at the University of Toronto. In 1997 she was honoured with the Humanitarian of The Year Award at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She has been widely published in the medical literature and has received numerous fellowships and awards throughout her academic career. She has instructed courses in Human Anatomy and Histology at both the University of Toronto and Dalhousie University. Her doctoral dissertation focused on maternal-fetal toxicology, upon it's publication in Child and Adolescent Medicine, it received international attention in the medical field as well as the major news networks.
Now Dionne Laslo-Baker focuses her expertise on the science behind skin care and can recommend products and treatments scientifically proven to be safe and healthy for the skin while maximally delaying or reversing the signs of aging. She has tested over 30 medical grade skin care and mineral make-up lines and selected the top products that stimulate the production of collagen and improve the skin's elasticity, tone, and hydration, frequently with greater cost-effectiveness than cosmetic industry preparations. She can also recommend treatment options for a variety of skin issues including anti-aging IPL phtorejuvenation for brown spots or facial redness, Collagen Induction Therapy, SILKPEEL Dermalinfusion, or Facial Peels.

"I just can't believe what a difference the treatment has made, people compliment me but can't pinpoint what is different because people just wouldn't know that there is something out there that could actually achieve this result!"
